Chapter Thirteen - Allie

After dinner, all I can think about is my date with Bishop and our walk along the beach before returning to the villa. We stopped outside the front door and whispered our goodbyes, then parted ways with a swift kiss.

I unlocked the door and hurried inside to my room. Then, I paused for a few seconds to catch my breath. I closed the door to my room and leaned against it. Once I was calm and collected, I resumed my regular duties. Bishop went back to his exercises on the beach. It was magical.

I’m still dizzy and giddy with excitement just thinking about it. This secret relationship is so bold and daring. We are taking on such a high risk by seeing each other like this. I love it, it’s thrilling and exciting, and I can’t stop myself from going along with it.

I had the most perfect day.

Wow, it has been so long since I felt like this. I want these feelings to continue.

I walk into the bath and turn on the light. There, I sit on the edge of the bathtub and start running the warm water. Today was such a good day.

Why not relax and let it linger?

I fill the tub with bath oil and bubbles. As I wait for the water to rise, I pull out my pajamas, laying them out on the bed. I go back into the bathroom and undress. I pull down my hair and play with it in the mirror.

Maybe I’ll try a new style for our next date. It’s been a long time since I’ve had to fix myself up for anyone.

I turn around and walk to the tub, then turn off the water and ease myself inside. The bath is warm and soothing. I lean back against the porcelain and close my eyes.

I never thought I would feel this way again. It’s about more than attraction. I feel happy when I’m with Bishop.

I feel, like a schoolgirl, not to sound cliche, but it’s true. I never felt this when I was married, and definitely not after the divorce. These feelings are so new and wonderful.

As I lay here basking in my emotions, I hear the door to my room click open. Sitting up suddenly, I crane my neck to see what is happening. A little bit of bathwater splashes on the floor.

“Who is out there? Hello?” I call out warily.

I’m not expecting a response, so I may jump out of the tub in fright as Bishop appears in the doorway to the bathroom.

“Oh my gosh! How did you get in here?” I ask.

My voice is filled with shock and relief.

My reaction amuses Bishop. Though he graciously tries to hide his smile and laughter. He looks at me and clears his throat.

“I…spent some time in my youth picking up questionable skills and habits,” Bishop admits.

He looks pretty comfortable here, and I try not to admit that I’m secretly thrilled to see him again.

“Well, what do you want?” I demand, trying miserably to appear indifferent.
